"This is a great industry to be in and is very rewarding."

How did you get into this line of work?

I always had a strong interest in creating and building things. Working on a number of major projects in my former career piqued further interest in project management and lead to working on major infrastructure projects.

What are you looking forward to most about this job?

This project is a unique challenge with many competing priorities. It is my job and the bit I enjoy the most to find the best solutions to those challenges to ensure that we get the very best outcome we can.

What are some of the big projects you’ve done in your career?

I started the bigger infrastructure projects as a Project Director with the ASB Sports centre in Wellington. In the Health sector I have worked on Greymouth Hospital, Burwood, Christchurch Energy Centre, Outpatients and Waipapa.

What have you enjoyed most so far?

Building project teams working together to overcome challenges resulting in buildings that enable dedicated and professional staff to do their job helping people.

What’s your advice for people wanting to get into the industry?

This is a great industry to be in and is very rewarding working with some excellent and smart people. Talk to them, listen and learn as you progress.
